英国骨科专家，博士、硕士研究生导师，1989年于英国爱丁堡大学取得医学学士学位，大学期间荣获Pattison临床外科奖，Wightman临床医学奖，Sir Robert Jones 骨科奖。1995年于英国爱丁堡大学取得医学博士学位(遗传性乳腺癌基因学)，并于同年成为皇家外科医师学会会员(爱丁堡)。1995年-2001年受聘于牛津大学任骨科住院医师。1997年-2000年在牛津大学沃弗森学院任Joan Mott初级研究员。2001年荣获欧洲肌肉骨骼肿瘤学会最佳青年研究者，阐明了多发性骨软骨瘤中基因型与显型的关系。2004年获ABC旅行学金前往北美进行访问。2002年-2013年受聘于爱丁堡大学任骨科会诊专家。2008年-2014年在爱丁堡肌肉骨骼肿瘤学会任高级会诊专家。2004年-2013年任骨科本科课程主任。2005年-2013年任英国爱丁堡国家骨软骨瘤门诊主任。擅长骨与软组织肿瘤，关节置换，小儿畸形与创伤。2014年2月正式加盟清华大学医学事业，为我院骨科主任，特聘教授，骨科会诊专家。

　　专业特长

　　擅长于下肢关节置换、骨肿瘤、小儿创伤、先天畸形等疾病的诊疗。对儿童和成人的全身骨肿瘤的发生、发展、治疗等做了大量基础研究和临床工作，尤其在儿童和成人的骨疣治疗领域经验丰富。

　　研究成果

　　目前已在各类学术期刊发表论文75篇以上，SCI论文50篇以上，作为编辑出版了‘Churchill’s Pocketbook of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rheumatology’:2nd Edn.等医学专业本科教科书共四本，作为章节作者参与撰写专业类书籍共十本。在小儿骨科部分领域发表研究论文数量居世界首位，并获得多项国际大奖。丹尼尔·波特教授目前正在与国家卫生部合作开展医风医德建设与医学专业研究生教育工作。
