Professor Qingyu Wu Was Invited to Attend the Joint Meeting of IFAO2013 JSAO2013 in Japan
On September 25, on behalf of delegation in the field of development of Artificial hearts in China, President Qingyu Wu was invited to attend the Joint Meeting of 5th Congress of the International Federation for Artificial Organs (IFAO2013) and the 51st Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Artificial Organs (JSAO2013) held in Yokohama, Japan. Vice Director of Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Associate Professor Xianwu Luo, and Ph.D student Jingjing Ji come with Professor Qingyu Wu together. In the Asian session, Professor Qingyu Wu presented the Experience of Application of Left Ventricular Assist Device and the current status. Since 2000, Professor Wu first treated a patient with late-stage cardiopulmonary failure with in-vitro ventricular assist device and artificial cardiopulmonary system. The special case Professor Wu had is a patient who had Novacor artificial heart assist device during the transition period of the transplant. The patient went back to normal life and worked for 7 years. Professor Wu was invited to the establishing ceremony of International Federation for Artificial Organs (IFAO) and to chair the vice president.
Professor Wu visited Life Medical Research Center--TWIns which is co-established by Waseda University and Tokyo Women’s Medical University. Professor Wu gave a lecture to undergraduates and graduates on Principle and Clinicial Application of Left Ventricular Assist Device and the research and application in China. Professor Wu and Associate Professor also discussed the ultimate artificial heart as an alternative to heart transplantation therapy and cavitation with Professor Miyagawa and students at Waseda University.
